Born and raised on the South side of Chicago, Rashada Dawan is a professional actress, vocalist, dancer, choreographer and business woman. With an undergraduate degree in psychology from Florida A&M University (FAMU), a graduate degree in Human Performance and Training along with an extensive resume in mental health, violence prevention and the arts including staring as "Shenzi" in Disney's The Lion King National Gazelle Tour and Las Vegas company, she has decided to focus her expertise and talents within the community. A "praise dance gospel play" about a young girl who loses her grandmother and seeks to find herself again.
Held at the historic Checkerboard Lounge in Hyde Park (Chicago), this R&B driven concert featured Rashada Dawan with her live band "The MD's" and several friends who came together for soul grooves and funky good times.
Inspired by the Ntozoke Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf", this is the story of 6 women who tell their stories of trauma through monologues and dance to encourage and inspire Lady Red.
Executive Director of B.FLI gets casted in Disney's The Lion King Gazelle Tour & Las Vegas company from an open call of over 500 people. The organization took a small pause while she lived on the road and traveled around the nation performing before thousands while developing her craft, 8 shows a week.
Karaoke-For-Peace aka "Will Sing For Peace" is a community initiative started by Rashada to promote peace through song/karaoke in what was reported as the communities with the highest homicide rates in the city. Neighborhood corners visited include: Austin, South Shore, Back of the Yards, Greater Grand Crossing, Auburn Gresham and 10 other communities throughout Chicago.
Karaoke-On-Wheels For Seniors is an initiative intended to bring joy, fun and performance to our seniors. From special requests of Billie Eckstine and "Tutti Fruitti" to full out dance parties, this program truly brings joy to all involved all year long.
B.FLI Arts Camp is a 6-week youth arts camp designed to empower and expose youth ages 7-17 to professional level arts training in acting, vocal performance, dance and comedic improvisation technique.
Created during the pandemic, private coaching classes are designed to encourage adults to explore singing and acting techniques for the first time while encouraging youth to build on existing interests and skills of performance.
